There’s Danzig after the Princess Rooney

Princess Rooney Handicap – Grade II [BC]
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $250.00 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Danzig Ghost, trained by D J C Racing Stables

It’s so good to see this tough four year old getting the wins she deserves. Stalking the leader today she took the lead and hung on gamely for a quarter length win. Last year’s BC Sprint runner up she has clearly got winning back into her bloodstream after failing to run up to that race for a while and I see her a contender again if she makes the field.

2nd Christine, trained by Captinj

Really brave off the front she went pretty quick early on and it looked like she might fold at the furlong marker but she kept lifting and made the winner fight all the way to the line. Giving the winner a pound this was a great effort and I would expect to see plenty more of her in this type of race.

3rd Anna Valentine, trained by Night Rider Stables

Ran on strongly late after running the trail to complete a great weekend for the trainer. This was a good effort but as she was getting weight from the first two I can’t see her getting past them in the future.

4th Dead Ant Dead Ant, trained by Wynnewood

Not a bad effort from the three year old but I have to admit I was a little disappointed. This however was a big ask for a three year old to give weight to her elders so it may turn out to be a pretty good performance down the line?

4th Its Taco Time, trained by Sanny Village

It wouldn’t be a stakes race at HRP without a dead heat and this one just managed to grab a share of the final paying spot. Not a bad effort from a router but I think her best for may be over a lot longer than this.

6th Red Velvet Cake, trained by Mb Stables

Placed well enough early on she found nothing after half way and ended up adding to a fairly disappointing weekend by her trainers standards.

7th Hehehe, trained by Maxmillion Farm

It must’ve been more than my tip that beat this grand old mare and we may have seen the start of her decline to the breeding shed today.
