Three-Year-Olds in April…Its a Rare Coincidence

San Francisco Mile – Grade III
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Rare Coincidence, trained by Mb Stables
Well there is no doubt that this gelding is very good and i tipped out the three
year old one two in my preview of this race but i still struggle when i see the younger
generation beating the olders at this time of year. A winner of a maiden and a couple
allowances he took this step up in grade not only in his stride but he thrashed the
opposition by three lengths. Never far off the pace after a sticky start he cruised
home is 1.32 and 3 and must already be a shoe in for the BC Turf Mile.

2nd Two Brushes, trained by Drabfantasy
In just his third race he managed a second stakes placing in this race chasing home
the easy winner after trailing early on. This was a super run and in beating all the
older horses in the race he certainly stamped himself a very good three year old.

3rd Breiterate, trained by Asgar
This grade one winning six year old couldnt manage to hold the three year olds as he
was thrown into the lead by the outside speed push and inevitably weakened late on.
This was a welcome return to form for the gelding who may have been more competitive with
a kinder draw.

4th You Big Freak, trained by Hawaiian Shirt Guy
Though he didnt run badly the fact that he was beaten by a pair of three year olds in April
suggests he will struggle as the year wears on.

5th Michaelangelo
Did well enough from the wide draw but just like Breiterate the early speed push resulted
in him weakening late which seems to happen most of the time with the outside draws.

6th Seattle General
As expected he weakened late and will be better placed when he returns to sprinting

7th Chapter In The Fog
Ran a terrible race from a decent draw and continues to struggle for some reason when
reaching for this type of grade.

8th Jubilant Outburst
Taken back and was never in the race

9th Eve Of Destruction
For a horse that is more at home over a mile and a half the way he weakened in this mile
race was a bit puzzling. But weaken he did and ended up a very well beaten ninth.

10th Sno Bro
Despite a huge work last time he fell away very weakly in the last half of the race. He
clearly has some pace so may be better over a sprint trip.
