Tough Field for The Juvenile Stallion Stakes

                  The Juvenile Stallion Stakes-NG
                             CD Race 7 7F- Dirt
                                Purse $200.000
                                 Two Year Olds

A group of nine two year olds are going to be lining up for this non graded stakes for two year olds here at Churchill Downs. There are some very good horses in this field for sure and it is going to take a big race for any of them to win. There’s quite a few stakes winners and undefeated horses in here.

1. Pericles (3-3-0-0 $26.580), trained by Aer Stables

One of the undefeated runners that I mentioned right here and he is three for three in his career but he has never ran with the likes of the company at all. He has been winning some decent races but definitely not a race of this caliber yet. Maybe he has been waiting for this opportunity and he’ll stay perfect.

2. Rocky Mountain Hi (4-2-0-0 $94.800), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Now this horse right here definitely disappointed me last time in the Pharoah Stakes because I had him picked in my top four and ended getting smoked by twelve lengths and he ran last of twelve that day. I think the distance was the problem that day and the competition so the cut back and class drop will help a lot.

3. Table Rock (5-2-1-0 $141.000), trained by John Henry

One of the stakes winners that is in the field is the Ontario bred right here and the competition that he beat when he won that stakes races was an Ontario bred two year old stake. He ran sixth on the turf at Keeneland last out and is coming back onto the dirt with a big chance to win I think.

4. Socotra Island (3-2-0-0 $67.800), trained by Nynl Stables

Now while this runner isn’t undefeated or a stakes winner in his career he’s only lost once and that was in a stakes race where he ran sixth and got beat by a length at Woodbine. He has a shot I think if he can get the seven furlongs with no problem. He should be a tough horse in this spot.

5. Que Paso Hermano (3-2-0-0 $23.940), trained by Nakamura Stables

Another one of the runners that is coming in here that isn’t undefeated or a stakes winner but like the runner just to his inside be has only lost once in his career. He has developed into a pretty decent runner so far but this is a big jump up in class for sure and he will have to run huge to win.

6. Salar De Uyuni (3-3-0-0 $34.050), trained by Pristine Stables

The other undefeated runner in the field and this horse just ran a very quick time in a starter allowance at Saratoga last time for six furlongs. He won a free track claimer before that and obviously this horse is better than those levels. He will have to run a huge race to win this race either way though.

7. The Word (5-1-1-0 $43.920), trained by Mb Stables

Now this horse here has to have gotten an advantage from his last out because now he’s got Mb Stables over Williams9. Mb Stables is jumping him in here in his first out for him nso he definitely think this horse has a chance I think. He will have to run a huge race to win it still though.

8. Bogota (5-3-1-0 $87.840), trained by Angelos Stable

Another stakes winner in the field and believe it or not this horse won a Texas bred stakes race which you hardly ever see run anymore. I’m not sure how the Texas bred company stacks up with anybody because they are so rarely run but I think this horse has a legitimate chance to win.

9. Spanish Magic (4-1-1-1 $38.000), trained by Estero Farms

Right here is a horse who likes to come from the clouds when he runs and since he runs that way he will definitely need a fast pace up front to help out his chances. I do think the seven furlongs here at Churchill will help him and I think if there is a pace meltdown he is going to be the winner.

Summary

Well there are some pretty good two year olds that are going to be in this race and it looks like to me that it will be an exciting race for sure. I think for my top pick I’m going to go with Table Rock on the switch back to the dirt and the extra distance from his last start. Good luck to all in the race.
