Tough To Choose A Winner in the La Prevoyante

The La Prevoyante Handicap – GIII
1/25/20
GP Race 10 1 1/2M – InTurf
Purse $200.000
Four Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

A field of eight turf routing mares has been entered up to contest this years running of the grade three La Prevoyante Handicap over the Gulfstream Park turf course. This whole field is pretty stacked on first look so let’s dig deeper and take a closer look at the field.

1. What A Gem (11-2-3-3 $117.280), trained by Arindel

First runner in the field here and this mare is very lightly raced for a six year old with only eleven starts. She broke her maiden and then won a stakes race off the claim for Arindel so he has figured her out. She has showed early speed in her last few so she is likely to be near the lead.

2. Credit The Cat (18-12-3-3 $419.240), trained by Nakamura Stables

Maybe the most consistent runner in the game here as she has never been off the board in all of her eighteen career starts. Short or long dirt or turf she runs her race but she has never been this distance before in her career. She is ultra consistent but the distance is an unknown for her.

3. Built For Speed (16-4-2-3 $124.390), trained by First Flight Stable

Next mare in the field here and she has been in very good form as of late and she really does like this mile and a half distance. She is two for two in her career at this mile and a half distance and that is what is going to help her out the most with these.

4. Revved Injen (13-2-5-2 $220.180), trained by Smokey Stover

Now to this mare who is coming into this race off of a third place finish. She will be making her first start for trainer Smokey Stover after her bought her. She won a grade three at Keeneland at this distance so if she can do that same thing in her she will be very tough.

5. Pirates Puff (17-8-5-1 $263.940), trained by Allinthegate

Highest weighted runner in the field here and she is coming off of a monster six length win in the grade three Red Carpet at Del Mar. She has been on a roll as of late with a first or second in her last six starts. If she runs like she has been she is definitely the one to beat.

6. Lady Cowgirl (19-5-4-4 $173.490), trained by TwinTowers Racing

Now to this mare here who is coming into this race off of a fourth place finish in the grade three Cardinal Handicap about two months ago at Churchill. She usually likes to come from off the pace so she will definitely need a quick pace on the lead to help her out.

7. Number Nine (7-1-3-1 $283.000), trained by Spankys Barn

Another very lightly raced filly in this race but she has been thrown at the best ever since she broke her maiden. She even ran seventh in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf last year and this will be her first start since that race. She is good enough to win this if she is ready to run.

8. Miz Snakie Queen (12-3-2-2 $254.790), trained by Maxmillion Farm

Final runner in the field here and Maxmillion Farm will be going for back to back wins in this race. This filly has really been good in her last two starts and the distance will be no problem for her either. It all comes down to what kind of trip she gets from the outside post.

Summary

A very good field has been entered up for this race here and it is tough to pick a top choice in here. Pirates Puff is who I am going with though as she is just in very good form and seems to be doing very good right now. Good luck to all in the field.
