Turf Or Dirt, Beach Xaar Proves Too Good

PRX Dirt Mile
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Beach Xaar Fractious Hernandez R M

If i had a dollar for every time i have said that the surface means very little at HRP and been proven right i would be a rich man. Though this four year old did scramble home to win his maiden on dirt back in 2020 his last start on this surface in that same year saw him a long way back in eighth in a little ungraded stakes and that’s when he started his successful career on turf. Today however after 19 consecutive turf races he was switched back to dirt and hey presto he became a stakes winner on the surface, a story i have written many many times over the years.
It was good to see him winning again after his terrible run in the Mint Million because he has always looked like he could be a big race winner but never really kicked on after some good efforts over the years. Maybe this is the turning point, maybe it was a freak race, only his next start will really answer that question.

2nd Soho Jackman Allinthegate Bridgmohan S X

This was a decent effort for second for another that has struggled to fulfill the promise he has shown on occasions. Tough and consistent he couldn’t quite get the winner but ran a solid race and has pretty much repaid the owner for their auction purchase in June.

3rd Rent Free Mb Stables Saez L

Had to work hard from the wide gate and that blunted his finish enough to see him beaten in the end. Less than a length behind at the line you only have to look at his last two starts to see the importance of the draw and i am sure he will find a decent purse in his future given some luck from the draw monster.

4th Shoot To Kill Luz International Luzzi L J

The early pace was pretty average which didn’t help the wider horses who got hung out a little early on and paid for it later in the race. I think this mile when up on the pace tested his stamina too much and in the end he couldn’t quicken but it wasn’t a ad effort and i am sure there is some more races in this ones future.
