Twelve Entered for The Rushaway Stakes

The Rushaway Stakes – NG
3/14/20
TP Race 2 1 1/16M – Dirt
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds

A full field of eleven has been drawn up to try their luck in this years running of the Rushaway Stakes here at Turfway Park on a day filled with stakes races over the track. This is the lesser race for three year old with the Ruby Stakes also on the card. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Di Dulci (6-2-0-1 $52.320), trained by Gdp Inc

First runner in the field here and he is going to be coming into this race off of a win in a second level allowance race at Sam Houston on an off track. He ran very good that day but this is his first start in a stakes race. If he keeps improving he could jump up and win this race.

2. Sir Robin (6-3-2-1 $74.600), trained by Night Rider Stables

Next up in the field here and this horse is coming into this race off of a third place finish in the Turf Paradise Derby at Turf Paradise. He won a first level allowance race at Santa Anita before that. He likes to show early speed most of the time so he needs to slow it down to keep going here.

3. City O City (3-1-1-0 $35.900), trained by Nakamura Stables

Next horse right here and he is coming into this race off of a second in the Pennsylvania Nursery by a nose. He is making his first start for Nakamura Stables here and he is coming off of a three month layoff. He did win around two turns but the layoff is a little bit concerning for sure.

4. Notorious Inspector (4-1-2-0 $34.800), trained by Tiratzo

Now onto this horse who is going to be making his first start for the barn off of a maiden breaking win at Fair Grounds about two months ago. He won nicely that day but this is his first time going around two turns in here. The distance and class are a question for him.

5. Lord City (5-1-0-1 $47.240), trained by Our Athletes

Up next in the field is this horse and he will be coming into this race as a first time gelding after a disappointing tenth place finish in the grade three Withers at Aqueduct. Maybe the gelding will do just the trick to get this horse to improve enough so he can win this race.

6. Lake Success (9-2-2-0 $117.200), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Another runner that is coming out of the grade three Withers right here and he was sixth that day. Before that he ran a pretty good second in the Jerome where he got beat less than a length. If he can work out a good trip in here he should have a good chance to win this thing.

7. Pbr (7-1-1-2 $38.320), trained by First Street Stables

Getting gelded has seemed to do the trick for this horse as he has be first and second in both races since it has happened. He won a maiden special weight at Charles Town last time around the bullring. Distance is a question mark and I’m not sure if he is ready for this class level.

8. Metaphorical (5-1-2-0 $35.200), trained by Mb Stables

Next runner to look at in this field here and he is coming into this race off of a dominant three length win in a maiden special weight at Tampa Bay in his last start. He crushed them that day and at least earned a chance to get in the race. He will have to improve a lot to win here.

9. Ghost Sword (5-1-3-0 $42.920), trained by Gdp Inc

Second of three from Gdp Inc in here and this runner is coming into this race off of a maiden breaking win at Santa Anits in aa maiden special weight. He is making a big step up in class here but he could have a shot if he improved off of the win.

10. Masons Day (6-1-2-0 $49.800), trained by Gdp Inc

Final runner of the three part entry from Gdp Inc right here and this horse will be entering the race off of an eighth place in the grade three Swale Stakes. He is going to try two turns here and with the tough post and distance I don’t see him winning unless he runs huge.

11. Red Flag (6-2-0-2 $96.360), trained by Robeth

A stakes winner in the race right here and he is going to be entering this race off of a fifth place finish in the grade three Holy Bull. He ran very good in there to only get beat a length and if he can repeat that performance he could win this. He does have a really bad post though.

12. Sun Shine (6-1-1-0 $29.400), trained by Crocker Ggs

And now to the final runner in the field here and he is coming into this race off of a second place finish in a first level allowance race at Sam Houston on a sloppy track. A tough post and he has never been able to win since his maiden win last April. Not much of a chance unless he runs the race of his life.

Summary

Well a full field of runners has been entered up here and it is a pretty competitive field for sure. There is definitely not any standouts in here but I do think that Lake Success could be the horse to beat. Good luck to all in the field.
