1st Twin Towers, trained by Smokey Stover

A huge win for the Smokey Stover barn as Twin Towers takes the Breeders Cup Classic. I didn’t know if he was good enough but he dang sure ran a huge race to get the win. He ran the Classic distance in 2:00.78 and took home the winners share of $3,600.000. It was also Smokey Stover’s first Classic win!

2nd Tactical, trained by Mb Stables

Kind of the buzz horse going into the race but he had a terrible post position in here. He was far back early from that outside post and he actually got a pretty good trip from the parking lot. He flew home late and was narrowly beaten by a neck in the end. A very good finish from him.

3rd State Police, trained by Smokey Stover

Well not only did Smokey Stover get the win in here he also just went ahead and has two finishers in the top three. His old hard knocker here ran a good race to get up for third and he was only beaten a half of a length by his stablemate. He ran a very good race in his last career start.

4th Apples To Oranges, trained by Mb Stables

The top four runners were rounded out by two owners with this runner coming in fourth for Mb Stables. The post time favorite here was pretty far back early on and had to weave through traffic because he was close to the fence. He came on strongly for a good fourth.

Summary

A thrilling Classic this year with only a neck separating the top two and less than a length separating the top four. Smokey Stover has been kicking back and partying since this Classic win I’m sure and he will be pointing for another win next year. Congratulations to Twin Towers and Smokey Stover.
