Two Grins Looking for Two Stakes in a Row

The Juvenile Filly Stallion Stakes- NG
                            CD Race 8 7F- Dirt
                              Purse $200.000
                          Two Year Olds Fillies

Well the filly side of the Stallion Stakes didn’t get nearly as many entries as the boys side but this race definitely isn’t short on talent at all. Every single one of the fillies that are in this race are coming out of stakes races. Well enough of the chatter chat and let’s take a look at this field of runners.

1. Jessica Jones (4-2-0-1 $91.400), trained by Treaux Farms

Right here is a stakes winning filly who won a Louisiana bred stake back in July at Evangeline Downs. She then ran third in the grade two Adirondack but didn’t do so well last out in the grade two Pocahontas here at Churchill. I think it was the distance and she will also need a very fast pace because she comes from the clouds.

2. Twisted Nun (8-2-4-0 $54.620), trained by The Sidley Stud

Now this filly right here doesn’t miss any dances because this is going to be her ninth career start of she ends up running. She hasn’t won a stakes race but she has ran second in two stakes so far and will be trying to finally get one. She has a decent shot if she isn’t worn out from all her races.

3. Olympus Calling (2-1-0-0 $27.000), trained by Threshold

The least raced filly in the field right here and she is going to try and keep a winning streak alive in this spot. She broke her maiden last out in an Ontario bred maiden special weight at Woodbine. This is a big step up in class for sure but maybe she will be able to show us that she is a stakes horse.

4. Snowy Mountain Sam (4-1-0-0 $21.600), trained by John Henry

Since this filly won her first out in April she has ran in three consecutive stakes races but hasn’t done a whole lot of action in any of the races. She just sort of runs even when she has ran and doesn’t seem to have much of a kick at all. She will have to run a whole lot better than she has been to have a chance.

5. Southern Sleuth (4-1-1-0 $46.000), trained by Sanny Village

Here is a pretty decent filly who is stakes placed and has ran fourth in a grade two to races back. She tried the turf last time and didn’t run that well so I think the switch back to the dirt will help her out pretty good and I think she has a pretty good chance in this spot to win possibly.

6. Two Grins (3-2-0-1 $132.810), trained by Estero Farms

The four to five favorite in this spot and she should be off of that stakes win last time against Ontario bred company at Woodbine. She ran a very big race that day and I think if she runs that same exact race she will also win this race. She is going to be my top selection in this race off of that stakes win.

Summary

A short but stacked field for this Juvenile Filly Stallion Stakes and every single one of these has a good shot to win I think. My top pick is the outside filly Two Grins because she is coming off of a stakes win. Right behind her I’ll take Jessica Jones for second. Good luck to all in this nice stakes race.
