Will There Be Some Top Weight Magic in The Go For Wand Handicap?

The Go For Wand Handicap – Grade III
AQU Race #3 1m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $250.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1       Starship Twister        TwinTowersRacing        Ryan S       118

The four year old home bred is typical of the sort of horses this trainer turns out, a great trier and one that always gives the punters a run. Although she has proved a little below the top class she has run well in these types of handicaps off low weights a good example being her last start in the Turnback the Alarm handicap where she was beaten just a neck into second. There may be a couple here that prove to classy but she is a top four filly for sure.

2     Z Command         Smokey Stover       Saez G        122

Without a doubt the best horse in the race there isn’t much left for this five year old to prove. After winning the BC Distaff in 2019 she has been a constant in the top races and won a further four grade ones since then. This season her form figures do not look as good because after a win in the grade one Phipps she has been taking on the boys in the Whitney and the JC Gold Cup. Her last start was in the BC Distaff where she was set as a front runner for the first time in early two years and ran a great race from a nasty draw to end up fifth beaten a length. She deserves every pound of her handicap weight and with the perfect draw to help her should still be better than the rest.

3    Laffy Crack         Night Rider Stables         Saez L          120

The other entry with a touch of class she is another grade one winner this year wit ha victory in the La Troinne and was only a length behind Z Command in the BC Distaff. She gets a 2Lb pull in the weights which will make things close between them and sets up a great race.

4       Deliberate Miss      Mb Stables        Hernandez R M         118

Run and won some nice races as a three and four year old but she has had a light season this year and looks to have been struggling a little since Spring. She has the ability and a low weight but i can’t see her beating both the grade one winners.

5      Unspoken          London Racing        Franco         M 117

With only five starts and all of those coming this year she would have to be considered a late starter and as such she may be the most dangerous to the top weights. She has a ton of pace as she showed last time out at six and a half furlongs and the mile may test her but with only 117Lbs on her back she may just be the joker in the pack.

6     Wow        D J C Racing Stables     Geroux F       118

As a three year old she is badly off in a handicap and like a few others this weekend will have to rely on the bias for this year evening out as the season draws to an end. She has a touch of class about her but like many of the stables runners i seem to write about gets a rotten draw and that adds to her handicap woes. Chances but things will have to be left to race engines and invisible improvements to make her a winning chance.

SUMMARY

You just can’t go past the two top weights and they look like the one two, if you wanted to go outside the box then Unspoken could be a decent gamble.
