You Can’t Keep a Good One Down as Veteran Controlled Power Takes Sycamore

Sycamore – Grade III
1 1/2 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Controlled Power       Spankys Barn        Prat F

Not really sure what caused the collapse of the on speed horses today as the pace was pretty ordinary and yet still this one managed to close for the win. To be fair this seven year old is one of the greats of recent years and whilst grade ones have been tough for him dropping back to a grade three he was definitely in a position to win. The wide gate was no problem as he dropped back and slotted in well enough and whilst his best performances this year have been from on the pace today he turned into a closer and did the job very well.

2nd Hammerfest      Smokey Stover           Saez G

It looked to be going perfectly for this one as he found a nice spot and moved up to win his race on the turn but he once again flattered to deceive and ended up being run down by a rejuvenated winner.

3rd French Style        Maxmillion Farm       Hernandez C J

Ran well enough and got close enough to two very good horses to suggest the three year olds are definitely catching up the older horses in time for the BC. He must now be the best maiden at HRP and must soon get his chance to get off the mark.

4th Immookielee       Smokey Stover     Garcia Mar

Got right up on the speed on a slow early pace but they came home quick and this one couldn’t quicken off the front. A decent effort but a bit disappointing after his brilliant effort in the JC Derby.
