Yun’gins Look for Black-Type in ELP Juvenile on Sunday

The youngsters will be on tap as twelve will head to the gate for the ELP Juvenile, a seven furlong dash over the ELP main track.  How many time do I have to say that I can’t handicap these races?  Not enough, that’s for sure… so let’s just go to the well and take Ubiquitous as the top choice today.  He’s been close in all three starts, closing well to be four in an Alw race at WO in his most recent, and the added ground should be to his liking.  Let’s look for Star Conclusion to be apart of the goings on here today.  He ran a big race in his maiden effort, has been off since June 1st, and I think he’s a horse that could be any type.  I’ll also give On Tilt a chance to be a big factor today.  He looks to have some ability, and although he’s been in PA-bred company, I think he can be part of this one as well.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Onguiaahra    Riggins Racing    Talamo J   120   12/1

Beat Cal-bred maiden claimers at PLN so this is a major step up in class.  Was last of nine in his debut at FP, so he’s going to need to show something I’ve never seen to be part of this one.

2
   Shook    John Henry    Beschizza A   120   8/1

Broke maiden at first asking, winning by three at SA, then was fourth in the KY Juv and seventh in the Bashford Manor (GIII) where he just didn’t seem to have any interest in getting into the mix.  Can we blame that on outside factors?  Probably.

3
   Uranus    Smokey Stover    Saez G   120   2/1

Looks like a real runner, breaking maiden at first asking, showing good speed and getting home in quick time.  The vet came a callin’ right after that one, so his mind is about racing.  Looks to be any type and should be a big factor in this one.

4
Hand Cannon    Jive Inc.    Garcia Mar   120   6/1

Got the job done in wire to wire fashion at EMD and goes into the deep end for his third trip to the gate.  He was sixth in his debut, but coming back to win with speed is a good sign.

5
   High Time    Oquinn Farm    Leparoux J R   120   2/1

Well goodness knows you had to take a few hits of late if you wanted to watch the goings on.  He won at first asking, breaking maiden at SA, then was tenth in the Tremont at BEL, only to rebound and win an Alw race of this surface.  He looks to be the real thing, give him a serious look.

6
On Tilt    YME Stable    Geroux F   120   5/1

Both trips to the gate have shown promise, runner-up in his firs start at PRX then breaking maiden at PEN, both vs. PA-bred types.  He won over a muddy track so the surface doesn’t seem to matter.  He looks to be a factor in this one.

7
   Superior Pinnacle    Martyparty    Court J K   120   5/1

Nice maiden win at first asking, taking the victory at GG going the abbreviated 2f distance.  I like the way he’s put together, his family… he looks like a real race horse.  He should get some action at the window.

8
   Sasebo    Nakamura Stables    Graham J   120   7/1

Both starts have been solid, running second at TUP at first asking then winning at BRP taking open maidens by two, pulling away late.  Another like that last out should make him a threat today.

9
   Star Conclusion    D J C Racing Stables    Cabrera D   120   9/2

Won at first asking, getting the job done at HST going wire to wire at the short three and a half distance.  He seems to be a runner and looks like the am gallops would support that theory.

10
   Proud Fury    Fractious    Bejarano R   120   7/2

Got the job done at WO last out and looked good doing it.  He flashed speed in his debut at CD only to back out a bit late and end up fourth in that race.  He has been working over this surface, so you have to think they were pointing to this.

11
Crazy Ivan    Acber Farms    Arrieta F   120   7/1

Won at first asking, breaking maiden at PRX, then was ninth in the FT Futurity at SA, where he just never seemed to get going that afternoon.  Can he get back on track in this one and find that first race form again?

12
   Ubiquitous    Mb Stables    Hernandez B J Jr   120   5/1

Big stable brings this one in off of a fourth (DH) in an Alw race at WO, and his last two starts have come on wet footing.  He was second in his first trip to the track at TAM, so he really hasn’t run a bad race.  Give him a look.
