  • Retaliate Gives Us Another Massive Longshot Winner in Crosby Stakes

An entertaining day at DMR was highlighted by the running of the Crosby Stakes on Saturday, a race that would send a horse directly to the BC Sprint just as long as their trainer wanted them there. It was a race that featured the usual favorites of the betting public, as well as some decent prices along the way. Then, there were a couple horses in the field that hardly got any action at all.

  • At 73/1, Mo Temptation Splashes Away to The MTH Oaks Win

It was not a nice day out at many tracks across the northeast, and MTH was right in the thick of the bad weather on this day. Soaking rains left the track sloppy, but that would certainly not dampen the spirits of anyone who bet on the winner, Mo Temptation, as the D J C Racing Stables filly lit up the tote board at odds of 73/1.

  • Prince George Claims The Amsterdam Crown

Prince George seemed like he should be one of the favorites for the running on the Amsterdam on Friday, as he had been running well and recently scored a 101 SRF in a victory at the Lang Stakes. There were several in the field that also ran there, but if Prince George could beat them before, surely he could do so again. He would be our pick and was the second choice of the bettors.

  • The MTH Oaks Sends Eight to the Gate

The highlight of the day at MTH on Saturday will be the 18th running of the MTH Oaks, sending three year old fillies a little more than a mile over the main track. It is a race that debuted in 2006, and up until last year, saw it’s purse range from between $100.000 and $200.000.

  • Royal Horses Look Like Favorites in The Amsterdam

On Friday, the highlight of the day at SAR will be the 21st running of the Grade 3 Amsterdam, sending a full field of twelve a total of six and a half furlongs on the main track. This race provides a great opportunity for trainers to give their horses a race to prepare for the BC Sprint, while keeping them away from older horses if they felt that is best.

  • Deep Field Ready to Go in Crosby Stakes

A spot in the BC Sprint is on the line at DMR on Saturday, as the 20th edition of the Crosby Stakes will be going to post. This Grade 1 event has seen some great winners in the past, including two horses that did so twice: Sweeper in 2011 and 2013, and then Z One Chance in 2018 and 2019. Also a past winner was a nine year old Alpha Ultimo in 2009 in what was his next to last career victory.

  • Another Mb Stables Stake Win: This Time Miss Fury in Coronation Cup

It was a good day for Mb Stables at the Spa on Friday, as after winning the Wilton, he would back that up with a victory in the Coronation Cup as Miss Fury got the job done, winning by about a length over Deaf Luna.

  • Black Book Survives at Wire to Win Wilton

In her last race, Black Book was left behind at the start and did not show enough in the stretch to make the closing tactic work for her. It was just her fourth career start, and trainer Mb Stables was clearly not worried about it by entering her in the Wilton.

  • Purple Charger Takes Charge Of The Schuylerville

Just eight days ago, on the fifth of July, Fractious and Our Athletes executed a private sales transaction that would see Fractious get the talented filly Purple Charger in exchange for $550.000. Such a purchase can be high risk, high reward when talking about two year old fillies in July, but for the moment it certainly looks like Fractious got himself a great one.

  • Deaf Luna Should Be Strong Favorite in Coronation Cup

This Friday at Saratoga, we will have the twelfth running of the Coronation Cup, which is a turf sprint for three year old fillies. It has always been a smaller ungraded stake here at the Spa, beginning with a $100.000 purse in 2012 before getting slight increases in 2021 and 2022 to its current level of $150.000.
