The fast first quarter suited this sprinter as she sat on the rail and let the leader go at it. I think that was the winning move because if she had contested the lead she may not have lasted home but when the winner tired, she took her cue and won a shade cheekily to justify her favoritism.

2nd       Dusty Heart                   SamIam                           Pilares C P       1:09.49               

Didn’t get anyone else fighting for the lead but had to go pretty hard to clear them and that was where she came unstuck. Strong to the half mile she had been running hard and the winner was sitting pretty in the stalk, saving ground and waiting to pounce. I think she did everything she could against a horse that looked by far the best on paper.

3rd        Candycanelane           Hannahbanana            Bermudez S E 1:09.89             

I thought the fact that she was taken back off a strong pace would see her finishing faster but, in the end, she didn’t get anywhere near the first two and had to settle for third. A fair effort but well held in the end.

4th        Wengen                           First Flight Stable        Ashton G          1:09.95             

The only real shock of the race was this one finished in fourth and it has to be said ran a fairly good race in only her fourth start. She has time on her side and may have got over the debut win that can often lead to a few duds before they get going again.
