The starting gate will be full for the seventh running of The Forbidden Apple, a Grade 3 event for older horses on the inner turf. This is a race that was initially held at BEL, and would be at that track for four years before moving upstate in 2020.

Top Turf Stars Show Up for The Diana
The Diana is a great race held at SAR for older females, sending them nine furlongs over the turf course, so it should come as no surprise that this Grade 1 stake has seen some great winners in the past. Twice has a horse won this race in back to back years, with Miz Liz doing so in 2009 and 2010, and then A Little Oblivion accomplishing the feat in 2011 and 2012.

Maya Caribe Outlasts Sancerre to Win The River Memories
The field was small but the distance long for the River Memories as five fillies and mares went to post. Maya Caribe ended up being a pretty big post time favorite for the race, though I was a little skeptical about her getting the full distance.

Lead Me On Overtakes Ginger Angel Late to Win TTA Sales Futurity- Fillies
In her last race, Lead Me On finished second to Paris Pinnacle Party in the Zareta, a similar race for TX-bred fillies. In the TTA Sales Futurity’s filly division, she had the opportunity to get some revenge and turn the tables.

Devil Made Me Doit Makes Maxmillion Farm a BEL Derby Invitational Winner
For a trainer with an impressive record on the turf, the BEL Derby Invitational trophy was a noteworthy omission from Maxmillion’s collection. He may not have had to make a deal with the devil to change that, but on Saturday, his horse Devil Made Me Doit would allow him to find peace, as he won the headbob with Found Peace at the wire.

Empire World Shows Plenty of Heart to Win The Great Lady M Stakes
It seemed as though several horses in the Great Lady M Stakes had a great shot to win the race, and even with the horse that we picked pulling a no show, we still were able to enjoy a competitive race that saw Empire World move her record to .500, by narrowly defeating Data Overload.
